The bull ant is unique to Australia. At up to four centimetres long, it is one of the world's largest ants.
Bull ants have a bad reputation! They are aggressive and will chase other creatures that come too close to their nest.
Jumper ants, one of over 90 species of bull ants, show their hostility by leaping at intruders.
Even worse, a bull ant has a painful sting on the end of its abdomen. An angry bull ant curls its body up and stabs its victim with venom.
Warning! Be very careful if you come across any kind of bull ant in your backyard. Its sting needs to be treated quickly in case you have an allergic reaction.
