Vombatus ursinus meaning “bear-like wombat”

The Common Wombat is the world's largest burrowing herbivorous mammal.  Clothed in thick, bristle-like grey to brown fur – except on its naked nose – a Common Wombat is equipped with powerful claws, which it uses to dig burrows up to 20 metres in length.
