Scientific name:
Malurus splendens meaning “glittering soft-tail”
During the breeding season, the male Splendid Wren moults into brilliant blue plumage. His brown-feathered partner, however, only displays a blue-coloured tail. Females build their nests from hollow balls of grass, while males collect food for their young.
