Wedge Tailed Eagle

Scientific name:

Aquila audax meaning “bold eagle”

Of Australia’s 27 birds of prey, the Wedge Tailed Eagle is the largest.  The red-brown colouring of younger birds gradually turns dark as they mature.  Wedge Tailed Eagles choose a partner for life and incubate their eggs in a large nest made of sticks.
